BioCNG-to-Cold Ironing, a new BlueBARGE sister project

BlueBARGE continues to engage in an increasing number of related projects. One such project, BioCNG-to-Cold Ironing, is a Cyprus nationally funded initiative focused on the use of biomethane, upgraded from biogas, as a maritime fuel for cold ironing applications. BioCNG-to-CI aims to provide green electrification to ships at berth or anchorage. A barge has been retrofitted with a marine engine genset powered by compressed biomethane, offering a cold ironing solution for vessels. For these reasons there are a lot of contact points between BlueBARGE and BioCNG-toCold Ironing projects

As a result, BlueBARGE will participate in the upcoming workshop, “Beyond Onshore Electrification: A BioCNG Floating Power Plant for Maritime Decarbonization” on 31st October in Limassol, Cyprus. The presentation, titled “BlueBARGE: An Overview, Project Objectives, and Key Outcomes,” will be delivered by ABS.

This participation marks a significant milestone for the project, increasing its international recognition and collaboration.
