BlueBARGE meets European Commission at TRA 2026

BlueBARGE met with Magda Kopczyńska, Director-General for Mobility and Transport, and Krzysztof Kuik, Director for Clean Planet, during the Transport Research Arena.

Europe’s transport community gathered in Budapest this month for the Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2026, the continent’s leading conference on transport research and innovation, bringing together researchers, industry leaders, policymakers and innovators. As a Horizon Europe project advancing innovative energy solutions for maritime transport, BlueBARGE was proud to participate and contribute to discussions on next-generation energy infrastructure.

Hosted at the Waterborne booth with a dedicated exhibition corner, BlueBARGE partners—including American Bureau of Shipping, Hydrus, Fundación Valenciaport and Magellan Circle—engaged with stakeholders from across the maritime, transport and energy sectors, presenting the innovative power barge solution capable of supporting both moored and anchored vessels, as well as a variety of additional maritime applications.

On 18 May, the BlueBARGE exhibition corner welcomed two very distinguished guests: Magda Kopczyńska, Director-General for Mobility and Transport, and Krzysztof Kuik, Director for Clean Planet. During their visit, BlueBARGE Project Coordinator Konstantinos Voutzouilidis presented an overview of the project, highlighting the development of a flexible and scalable power-barge capable of delivering electricity to ships, reducing emissions and supporting European and international decarbonisation goals.

The discussions and interest in BlueBARGE throughout the event highlighted the growing importance of innovative energy solutions for ports, maritime hubs, and terminals, further reinforcing the relevance of BlueBARGE’s work in the maritime energy sector.
