BlueBARGE has launched a dedicated Zenodo community to make its research openly available. The collection will host articles, conference papers and datasets generated by the 14-partner consortium across its 36-month schedule (January 2024 – December 2026), supporting the maritime sector’s push toward electrification and decarbonisation.
The first upload, produced by the National Technical University of Athens, is titled “Defining the Power and Energy Demands from Ships at Anchorage for Offshore Power Supply Solutions.” It quantifies real-world load profiles for container ships, tankers and cruise vessels—data essential for sizing batteries, fuel cells and grid interfaces on board the prospective barge.
BlueBARGE’s concept marries high-energy-density lithium-ion batteries with robust vanadium-redox-flow units in modular, containerised blocks, enabling rapid deployment where on-shore power infrastructure is limited. By eliminating auxiliary-engine emissions during anchorage, the solution could help ports meet tightening EU and IMO air-quality targets.
